Building a MOVEMENT

Across Canada, people are already fighting for housing justice: organizing tenants, building housing co-ops, defending against evictions, pushing for policy change, and demanding community control over land and housing. Disagreements on tactics are a sign of a healthy movement. They show that we are imagining multiple paths forward, testing bold strategies, and learning from one another. What unites us is bigger than what divides us.

  1. We all want homes that are secure.
  2. We all want communities where people can stay and belong.
  3. We all want housing that puts people before profit.

Our power grows when we recognize that we are part of the same movement building towards the same horizon: Victories in one city strengthen campaigns in another. We move together, perhaps not in the same way, but in the same direction.

Housing justice isn’t a single tactic. It’s a collective strategy for transforming what housing means in this country. Housing justice is a shared struggle and our victories will be shared too.
