The Catherine Donnelly Foundation Awards $20,000 to the National Tenant Organizing Fund to Strengthen Tenant Organizing Across Canada
The National Tenant Organizing Fund (NTOF) is pleased to announce a $20,000 grant from the Catherine Donnelly Foundation in support of the Fund's 2026 granting rounds.
The grant will help NTOF provide funding to tenant organizing groups across Canada working to strengthen tenant power, build local organizing capacity, and advance housing justice.
“Tenant organizing is one of the most tangible and effective ways to create lasting change in our housing system,” said Olivia Champagne. “We are grateful to the Catherine Donnelly Foundation for investing in the people and organizations building tenant power on the ground across Canada.”
The National Tenant Organizing Fund provides grants to tenant organizations for organizing, leadership development, outreach, campaigns, and movement-building. The Fund was established to address the lack of accessible funding available for tenant organizing across Canada.
The Catherine Donnelly Foundation supports organizations working to advance social justice, including initiatives focused on housing, civic engagement, and environmental sustainability.
Applications for NTOF's 2026 funding round are currently underway, with successful applicants to be announced throughout the year. Grants have ranged from $400 to $4,000, with an average award of approximately $1,750 per project.
The National Tenant Organizing Fund is grateful to the Catherine Donnelly Foundation for its $20,000 contribution, which will strengthens the Fund's ability to expand grantmaking throughout the remaining 2026 funding rounds.
